Well, I don't know.
If by ideologies you mean his latest fascist nazi stuff, I despise it.
However, it could very well be a prison thing (it's harder to survive without joining gangs, having people to back you up, etc.)

And about the Euronymous murder, I've read both sides of the story (read Vikernes' stories on the Burzum site for his version).
According to Varg, Euronymous was planning on killing him by tying him to a tree and then torturing him to death while videotaping it, which is why Varg decided to stab him (not entirely in self-defense, but to prevent Euronymous from getting back to him later on).
Also, the media portrayed him as a vicous murderer, having stabbed Euronymous 20 or so times, while in reality, he killed him nearly instantly, and the other cuts on his body were caused by glass that was on the ground or something.

But whoever is right, all the violence is indeed highly unnecessary.
I do think, however, that the motive of the killing didn't have anything to do with black metal.
Well, perhaps it did in some sort of way, but the murder definately didn't occur because Varg wanted to show he was "true" and "grim".

And as for your last question, I think Burzum was quite influential within black metal.
I haven't heard much of their stuff, so I'm not a fan or anything, but their earlier stuff is okay.
I also respect his initial vision when he started the band (making dark music inspired by the the dark, evil side in LOTR).
Back in the days it was his vision that he turned into a musical form.
Might seem pretty standard stuff nowadays, but back then there were mostly death bands in Norway..
Ah well, I guess it's kind of a mixed bag.

And also, yes, it did change black metal as a whole (along with other stuff).
With Euronymous (Mayhem) dead, Varg (Burzum) & Faust (Emperor) in prison, Dead (Mayhem) having committed suicide, and the church burnings leading to arrests, etc.

Vikernes sucks ! He's a fuckin' stupid fascist and his musical capabilitys are inferior - this man is absolutely overrated! I only heard his records "Aske" and "Filosofem" (or so what) and sorry at all BURZUM-Fans, for me it is primitive shit!

i like the idea, that the combination of paganism and facism makes him a heretic, looool!
