Lunar Aurora is an atmospheric black metal band from Germany that formed in 1994.
They have a clean production, and several atmospheric bits and pieces are thrown in the songs to immerse the listener more.
I guess one could refer to it as melodic black metal as well, but the general definition is atmospheric black metal.
Since late 2006, the band is put on hold.
After a short-lived and unpleasant deal with "The Oath" from Italy,
Lunar Aurora ended up founding their own label Cold Dimensions.
Their lyrics are about darkness, solitude, sorrow, distress, and the moon.
All of their albums are considered masterpieces within the genre.
So far I've only heard their latest "Andacht", and it's ace.
Very highly recommended for anyone who likes high-quality black metal with a clean production and good atmosphere!

| Fun fact: Aran (vocalist of Lunar Aurora) is also in a one man dark ambient project called Trist (not to be confused with the Czech DSBM band with the same name).
I'm listening to Hin-Fort at the moment, and I think it's really good.
It's very monotonous though, the first track (Hin) clocking in at 59:59, and consisting of dark noisescapes, distorted guitars that are hardly even noticable in the mix (it's not very metal at all, unless perhaps the final 10 minutes or so), endless droning drums, and the occasional spoken parts (about darkness, man's relationship with space, etc.)
Quite experimental, but I like it
