Taake is a Norwegian black metal band from the town of Bergen.
They started out under the name of Thule, but later changed their name to Taake, derived from "tåke", the Norwegian word for "fog", to reflect the general Norwegian feeling, and as a sort of patriotic tribute to the fog surrounding the seven mountains in their hometown Bergen.
The band has seen a lot of member changes, but the constant thriving force behind the band is Hoest (Ørjan Stedjeberg), vocalist and frontman of the band since 1995.
They do have some paganistic traits (runes in logo and in booklets of their CDs, and a strong lyrical affinity for Norway, its surroundings and history), but the main focus is on pure misanthopic black metal.
Hoest has been imprisoned multiple times for assault charges, and has sparked some controversy by appearing on stage with a swastika painted across his chest at a gig in Essen, Germany, but it was more of a one-time controversial stunt, since he does not have any extremist views whatsoever.

They are personally one of my favorite black metal bands at the moment, and they show that post-Burzum/Mayhem norwegian black metal is still alive.

The Helnorsk Svartmetall screaming at the beginning of Hordalands Doedskvad is my ringtone on my mobile phone Razz
I still want the cd, maybe I'll buy it next sunday, if I can find it.
And I love the pictures and artwork.

What can I say...the band is one of the best bm bands in the current scene. The lyrics are at a metaphisical form ,superior to lots of bands who sing mostly about Satan and repeat this word like...100 times per song.Their raw sound is almost perfect.

I was thinking of buying Doeskvad as well, but it's the only sold-out album on Dis-Order Sad
I'll get it later on then..
