by the way, in our music lesson at school today, I had to represent a song, I really love. I took Inis Mona and showed it to the others, talked a bit about Folk Metal in general and the Celtic culture. It was great! Some of them really enjoyed the song, others just said, I was a freak, 'cause I hear music 'bout ancient times =D
It was so funny to see a girl, who usually listens to pop-music and such stuff, banging her head ^^

Hah, cool!
I have to do something likewise, except it has to be a song with a deeper meaning or stuff (it's for religion class).
I still have no idea what the hell I'm going to bring along with me..
And yeah, some people think it's weird to listen to folk metal, I've had some comments on my Korpiklaani hoodie and Amon Amarth longsleeve, but I don't care about that.
If they want to be ignorant narrow-minded people, that's fine Smile

next time , reply them everyone's different! and tell them how much this genre is so eclectic ! tell 'em also that its also weird to be into pop songs & that 90% of times theres like 4 chords..for the damned rappers you could tell them its weird as well cuz behind lyrics is a same riff played over & over the tune so is the rythm...for some harder genres, tell them that the EMG does the main work - i am not denying other genres Jort but it just mean that its so easy to talk negative bout things but anyway,

just tell em how RICH is FOLK METAL beside these other genres!

I finally listen to slania album, and I am a little disappointed.

I liked very much Spirit, but the new album is not as good as the first.
I feel the lack of melody and inspiration, and it's a little boring I thought and I disapprouve the fact to put in the album a remake of tri martolod (or for sell to the news listenners)
(I don't feel the original spirit of the folk metal =)

Stay a great band, but I really think they could have been better. It's my opinion

Well, a lot of their songs have non-original melodies.
The melody of Inis Mona existed in celtic culture way before Tri Martolod.
And songs like Andrô (from Spirit) have existing celtic melodies as well, they're just less known than the Inis Mona one..
I love the new album anyway Smile
It's not really doing that much new stuff (apart from the instrumentals), it's kind of continuing where Spirit left off, in a similar fashion (yet with a little bit more melodeath).
But I loved Spirit, so that's okay for me Smile

cuber Andro is known & is from Britany (again Very Happy ) sorry its also a celtic dance.

tri martolod was an old forgotten traditional song that stivell has put back in

in fact stivell work & eluveitie one are similar, they both work on old celtic stuff, music...texts..

but yeah its nothiing new that Eluveitie take things here & there.. but what i like with them is that its not smple covers........ they use some part of old celtic stuff... but those things take another new dimension.. & we feel they really worked on it.. and they show that celtic & metal can go so well together

"Regarding our upcoming US tour we sadly have to announce that our guitarist Siméon Koch isn't able to come with us, due to several organisational reasons. We'll definitely miss him during those weeks.
Yet we're glad that we've found a worthy replacement for him in Týrs TERJI SKIBENAES! Terji will friendly step in for Sime during the US dates of the Paganfest tour.
So we raise our horns to the Faroese Islands! And we're glad we can also reward Týrs helpfullness: Since Týrs drummer Kári Streymoy isn't able to join the tour due to an injury, our thrashing bastard Merlin Sutter will step in and play with Týr accessorily during the US tour".

Damned...

Quote:
After a long time playing together with us, Sevan (flute, whistles, bagpipes) and Rafi (bass) decided to leave Eluveitie. Both of them came to this desicion due to personal reasons.
Both, Sevan and Rafi, were longtime members. Sevan was with Eluveitie from the very beginning on. So their step was kind of a shock for us. Yet we also understand and accept their desicion. We won't forget the years we spent together and we wish Sevan and Rafi all the very best on their future musical as well as personal ways! "Thank you both for your dedication and for the time we spent together the last four years! Take care & horns raised!!!"

That's a sad news..Sad
