Fejd @ The Rock, Dresden
Hehey Fejd fans,
Just for the record, a brief personal review of Fejd's gig in Dresden from last Saturday:
This was a festival called "The Rock", which is a strange and not very precise title for a festival, but never mind. There were mostly gothic-style bands playing (69 Eyes, Subway to Sally, Tanzwut and some superficial alternative rock by a lady called Lucia Burana) and it felt a bit like Fejd being the exotic outsiders. I don't feel too comfortable among these "gothic style kiddies", like those sitting(!) right in front of us during the Fejd gig. Well I can say that those brats certainly missed another cool Fejd gig, that's for sure. Though when we talked to the band afterwards they told us that none of the band members could hear anything through the monitors. But they went through the whole gig bravely without complaining to the technicians.
At least we in front of the stage could hear them well, though with some sound problems in the beginning, making Esko's drums sound hollow and chill. But that grew better with every song. They kicked off with "Offerrök" of course. And again I was very nervous and anticipating like at the Fejd gig at Ragnarök Festival.
(There are indeed very few bands that make you feel that anticipating. It was similiar to the situations I had in 2003 at Blind Guardian's own festival, sharing a battlefield with 10,000 BG fans, similiar to the magical 2004 "Back to Times of Splendor" release party of a great band from Leipzig called Disillusion, similiar to Primordial's sold-out 2008 gig in Dublin or my very first Wuthering Heights gig in Copenhagen last year, a highly underrated band with Erik Ravn being one of the greatest songwriters I've ever laid my ears upon...)
Anyway, Fejd's sound grew better with every song and I think many of the audience really liked Fejd's music. I really hoped they got a few new fans and sold some cds. During "Storm" we met another Fejd maniac from Leipzig. That was funny, because I live in Leipzig and we never met before that gig, lol. The title song somewhat lacked the magic it had at Ragnarök. Can't really explain why. Maybe it was because of the daylight, maybe because of the audience that surrounded me (remember those disinterested brats right in front of me?), maybe the sound was just too thin stil or it was simply too early for "Storm" (third song, expected it later). "Ryttaren" is a good "dancer" though. I enjoyed that ol' piece very much. Surprisingly some people wished for an encore and I was so happy that Fejd played the great "Bed för din själ"!
Ok, I try to remember the setlist, correct me if I'm wrong:
Offerrök
Bergakungen
Storm
Ryttaren
Svanesång
Yggdrasil

Bed for din själ
Later the guys came out to say hello to their fans and the fans-soon-to-be, that was very nice. Some folks asked for autographs, we already had our stuff signed the last time (including my friends super-rare all-EPs-cd, hehe) so it was just chit-chatting with the band. Esko showed us an alternative artwork of "Storm", which looked much cooler imo (more natural) but Napalm didn't want it... Maybe he could post it here?
I wish I could go to Hörnerfest next weekend, but I'm afraid I can't go. Lack of money and a birthday party within the family...

But you other fans better go and see them! They're scheduled for an hour(!) and will play a slightly different set (of course...)
Here's a picture of me and the guys:

(Last weekend I have decided to seriously learn Swedish to better understand what I'm shouting along at those gigs, lol)
