dreaming deeper into woods and silence...

Nebelung is a German neofolk band. The band's name is an old word for the month of November. And that fits the music quite well. It's calm Neofolk with mostly just accoustic guitats, sometimes with percussions and single violin or cello.
The lyrics are about nature - especally autumn -  and philosophic themes, which definately goes in line with the melancholic music.
The band itself was founded in autumn 2004, with the goal to present the atmosphere of autumn in form of music.
Nebelung released two albums and one 7" so far and was featured on two compilations.

They are working on new album.

Spent the whole weekend in the studio, adding the last and final recordings to our upcoming album, frame drum, bells, rattles, and - with the help of J from Fyrnask - some spoken and whispered passages in norwegian tongue. The album is still growing. And it already grew a thousand times more than we had ever expected since we plucked its first strings more than three years ago. Stoked.

We are very excited to announce the release of our upcoming full-length, entitled PALINGENESIS. In many ways this release marks a new era for us. When the first notes to PALINGENESIS were written and recorded more than two years ago, it was all but clear where they would lead us, and without putting us under any pressure, we decided to give the recordings time to develop, and time to ripen like good wine. In these past two years the album grew, slowly but steadily, and with the album also Nebelung grew to more maturity, musically and spiritually. Seeing the album now in its final embodiment we are very content we chose this approach, and we sincerely hope with its release you will feel as well that the album has well been worth the wait.

PALINGENESIS will be released on the small but highly ambitioned swedish label Temple of Torturous early next year both on digital (CD) and analog (2x12") sound carriers, including a limited run on coloured Vinyl. Expect more details on the album, its release date and previews on music and artwork to follow soon!

PALINGENESIS

Derived from the greek words for 'birth' [genesis] and 'again' [palin], the term Palingenesis refers to a variety of concepts of rebirth and recreation, ranging from the stoic idea of the continuing recreation of the cosmos, the christian belief in spiritual regeneration through baptism, or the originally pythagoreean concept of the souls' transmigration into a new body. NEBELUNG take up the energy behind these concepts, using them as archetypal images for mans' eternal strive for spiritual perfection in a meditation on death and decay, transformation and renewal.

More than two years on the making, the release of PALINGENESIS defines a new era for NEBELUNG. Where its predecessors had been singing the hymn of autumn and night by the means of simply structured melancholic folk songs, PALINGENESIS takes on a different approach, transcending the boundaries of lyrics and song, sparing light and reason, and letting the music take on a direct and unaltered way to the depths of the subconscious. PALINGENESIS is a deep and transforming listen, with tracks built up like Mantras, tucking the listener into a dense and detailed tapestry of subtly woven, intertwining melodies and drones, rich in detail and structure, and incorporating such a variety of acoustic instruments as both classical and steel stringed guitars, cello, accordion, indian harmonium, hammered dulcimer, glass harp, percussion and voice.

Just had to preorder Palingenesis. All the previews were so wonderful, the reviews so far are very promising and since I loved all their previews work... I surely won't regret it.
